Target Audience
Council Members who have been elected via Supplementary Election, Count-back or who have missed their Leadership Mid-term refresher module 8.1.
Overview
This session has been designed to help Council Members develop key community leadership competencies and identify attributes and develop skills that uphold the Behavioural Standards and principles of good governance.
Key objectives:
- To develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to meet Behavioural Standards and work, health, and safety obligations for council members
- To develop communication skills for effective working relationships and constructive ways to negotiate and influence others to perform the role
- To develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to effectively perform a community leadership role
Facilitator
Maggie Dowling - Senior Consultant - CulturAlchemy
Maggie specialises in strategy review and development with a focus on innovation with realism. She loves a problem to solve with a solution that focuses on the culture and skills needed to deliver the real change required.
With experience working across a wide range of sectors including Not-for-Profit, commercial, R&D, State, Federal & Local Government, Maggie has been at the coal face of significant and complex reforms including deregulation and mergers and acquisitions. What really excites Maggie about her work is the opportunity to partner with executives, senior leaders and on-the ground staff to develop innovative strategy and plans for the transformational change required to make it happen.
An experienced CEO and Company Director, Maggie’s academic qualifications include a master’s in business administration and graduate certificate in company directorship. The combination of skill, experience and qualifications sees Maggie as the essential question of “why” and then “why can’t we” before getting to the “how”.
