Course Overview:
The Grants and Funding Workshop, provided by Section51, is aimed at taking Councils to a new level in accessing and delivering grant funding. By providing insight into the total funding system, the workshop will show you how to be more competitive in applying with reduced stress in delivery.
The workshop is provided in four parts:
1. The foundation, and an understanding, of the Federal, State and Local Government funding system and how it works. This includes where the funding opportunities are in 2017/18 and how the current political environment between Commonwealth and State Government influences the process.
2. Anyone can write a grant application, but if you want to reach a new level of being competitive you need to get the pitch and story right in your application.
3. When your application is successful, you are not alone if you think the funding agreement is daunting. We show you how to reduce stress and sleep at night through the delivery process and provide solutions for dead ends and other traps when something doesn’t goes according to plan.
4. You should tell everyone that you have delivered a great project. We show you how to tell your story of success through milestone and final reports and from this market Council’s ability to deliver funding.
Presenter:
Colin Steele is Managing Director of Section51. Prior to establishing Section51 Colin worked for ten years as a local government planner, and then eleven years in the NSW Government including the executive of NSW Premiers Department, before moving to Canberra with ten years designing, assessing, managing and evaluating grant programs for regional development, local government, environment, climate change and infrastructure.
Colin’s work in all three governments, and as an assessor, enables him to provide a unique insight into the total funding system which has led to improved success in applying and reduced stress in delivery for a wide and diverse range of councils across Australia.
