Overview
This full day program offers participants the opportunity to attend both Grants and Funding ‘Strategies’ and ‘An interactive project workshop’ at a reduced rate
Part 1: Grants and Funding Strategies
In this session the disaster and drought grants, sports grants and funding allocations of 2019 will be analysed and strategies for approaching funding opportunities in 2020 will be provided.
- The context of disaster funding; who is responsible, how it works and why;
- Information about where and how grant funding may be made available in 2020;
- An overview of how to start preparing your projects now so you are ready to apply for the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) and other funding opportunities in 2020.
Part 2: Grants and Funding - Interactive Project Workshop
This face 2 face interactive session will provide participants with the opportunity to workshop ‘real’ projects they are seeking funding for in 2020. Using the BBRF as a template, this session will run participants’ projects though the preparation and application process.
Participants will also work though the 14 attachments that are required for BBRF4 and look at which ones may apply to the next round, or other grant opportunities
- How to make your project interesting so it gets ‘noticed’
- How to tell your project story to the funding providers
- How to create a council’s portfolio of past projects to have ready for your next application
Facilitator
Colin Steele has been the Managing Director of Section51 for over 10 years, assisting councils achieve funding for close to $400 million in community, infrastructure and environmental projects.Prior to establishing Section51, Colin worked for 10 years in local government, 11 years in State Government and 10 years designing, assessing, managing and evaluating grant programs and disaster funding for the Australian Government. During this time he was manager of Local Government programs in the Department of Infrastructure during the Global Financial Crisis. His team at the time were the architects of the then Australian Government GFC response for Local Government in 2008.
Colin has a comprehensive understanding of what happens inside government during these times.
