Theme: ‘Strategic Thinking as Strategic Seeing’.Strategic thinking: "What happens inside a black box, before the planning; a moment of 'creative insight' that connects information together in new ways".
Strategic thinking is an important part of being an effective leader. It helps you connect your understanding to what you see and what others see, what is unique, what may present challenges as well as opportunities.
This forum will share some informal insights into some key leadership research, explore how this relates to Mayors\Chairpersons’ leadership effectiveness and with different perspectives how we create greater strategic thinking.

Facilitator
Rowena McLean, Sector Development Director, LGA and Dr Chia-Yen (Chad) Chiu Dr Chia is a published researcher on leadership and has worked both in Australia and overseas. He is a Senior Lecturer at UniSA and takes pride in his approach as a facilitator when it comes to supporting others in learning.Chad, as he’s known, will bring some interesting insights for you to consider and discuss with peers in context of you maintaining your leadership effectiveness in the next phase of Council’s term.
