Course Overview:
Common Sense Isn’t Very Common: Social Media Etiquette & Branding
This workshop is designed to give a thorough understanding of the global reach of social media, its pitfalls and benefits. It is an environment in which bad manners, poor behaviour and forgotten etiquette all seem to be amplified and forgetting to think about what you have said before hitting publish can have real consequences. The social media environment can seem daunting at first but there are real benefits for elected members to use it.
Some of the areas to be covered in the workshop include:
- In the beginning: Logos, buzzwords and chat, what communication in the digital economy is and means;
- Social media platform personalities: being cautious about what gets shared with which accounts: LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Google ;
- Etiquette: the differences and what they mean;
- Brand YOU: Personal branding – it has never been more important, thanks to social media!
- Protect your identity from identity theft: safe social networking.
