Overview
Public sector employees in South Australia are entitled to access 15 days of family and domestic violence leave. All other employees under the Federal system, including employees of small business employers, are entitled to 10 days of family and domestic violence leave.It is imperative that Councils, local government entities, businesses and organisations understand their obligations in relation to managing family and domestic violence leave in the workplace. This session will inform Managers and HR Officers in extending support to employees experiencing family and domestic violence, whilst managing legal risk.

- Who is entitled to family and domestic violence leave;
- How family and domestic violence leave is calculated for casual employees;
- What evidence must be provided in support of an application for family and domestic violence leave;
- Privacy and confidentiality considerations;
- Recommended updates to workplace policies and procedures; and
- Review of recent case law and processes to best manage requests for leave.
