Overview
Following the Introduction to Local Government course, this session focuses on good governance in Local Government. Participants will gain an understanding of the practices, procedures and systems within Local Government, as well as an overview of the decision-making powers of councils.We will discuss what ‘governance’ is within the Local Government context and why good governance is necessary for accountability and successful operation of a council.

- Overview of the decision making powers of councils including delegations and meeting procedures
- Understanding duties and responsibilities of public officers
- Legislative compliance obligations under the Local Government Act 1999 (SA)
- Understanding the oversight and accountability under the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption Act 2012 (SA)
- Developing skills in relation to community engagement

She has extensive experience in delivering high quality training seminars, workshops and conferences across her many specialisations.
