Grants and Funding - Interactive Project Workshop

Target Audience

Council staff involved in grants and funding applications, including Australian and State Government Grants and disaster funding.




This face 2 face interactive session will provide participants with the opportunity to workshop projects they are seeking funding for in 2020. Using the BBRF as a template, this session will run participants projects though the preparation and application process.

Participants will also work though the 14 attachments that are required for BBRF4 and look at which ones may apply to the next round, or other grant opportunities

  • How to make your project interesting so it gets ‘noticed’
  • How to tell your project story to the funding providers
  • How to create a council’s portfolio of past projects to have ready for your next application



Colin Steele is Managing Director of Section51. Prior to establishing Section51, Colin worked for 10 years in local government, 11 years in State Government and 10 years designing, assessing, managing and evaluating grant programs and disaster funding for the Australian Government.

Section51 has been running as a consultancy for over 10 years and in that time, we have helped councils achieve funding for close to $400 million in community, infrastructure and environmental projects.
