Emotional Intelligence for Leaders
Time:
9:30am to 4:30pm
For:
Leaders in councils who understand the value of broadening their emotional intelligence skills.
This workshop has been developed for leaders and managers who work in Local Government. The day will explore why the growth of one's emotional intelligence is so important when interacting with others in the workplace.
We define Emotional Intelligence as the ability to recognise, understand and manage our own emotions and recognise, understand and influence the emotions of others. In practical terms, this means being aware that emotions can drive our behaviour and impact people both positively and negatively. Knowing how to manage these emotions – both our own and others – especially when we are under pressure, is a very important life skill.
In this session, we will explore the five key elements of Emotional Intelligence:
- Self-awareness

- Self-regulation
- Motivation
- Empathy and
- Social skills
With the use of practical exercises and case studies.
