The LGA Education and Training service strives to meet the training needs of all Councils in South Australia. We are aware that it is not always easy or financially viable for our Regional Councils to make the trip to Adelaide to attend our scheduled courses. In response to this the E&T service regularly programs training opportunities in all regional areas, aiming to offer a price parity* with the training offered in the metropolitan area.


The value benefit to Regional Councils includes reduced accommodation, travel and time and costs associated with attending training in Adelaide. These cost reductions represent a significant real-cost  saving for Councils making use of such opportunities. Where possible, regional training is scheduled to be held between 10.00am and 3.00pm to enable travel time within normal work hours, further reducing costs and inconvenience.


To hold a regional session, the LGA Education and Training service generally requires a minimum of 12 to 15 participants to cover the delivery costs associated with most courses. If this is not suitable, please ask us about a custom course that can be delivered to just your Council.


*the cost to deliver training in regional areas can often be excessive, depending on a range of factors including trainer costs, travel, accommodation and meals costs. Whilst price parity with metropolitan training is always a priority, there are times when these costs cannot be absorbed and must be passed on through the fee structure. Such cases have traditionally been rare.
