For:  Authorised Persons/General Inspectors, Engineering Officers and any other Council Officers involved in matters affected by road closures.

Course Overview:
This course will assist Council officers to comply with the legislation relevant to road openings and closures, the classification of land as community land, revocation of that classification and alienation of community land.
This course will provide participants with an understanding of:
   - the different methods available to Councils to close roads under:
             o Section 359 of the Local Government Act 1999
             o Sections 32 and 33 of the Road Traffic Act 1961
             o Section 59 of the Summary Offences Act 1953
             o Roads (Opening and Closing) Act 1991
   - traffic control devices
   - traffic impact statements
   - delegation and general approval from the Minister for Transport
  - road opening methods.
