The following is an outline of the 'REFRESH' program that ran in March 2018 for Executive and Personal Assistants. A program for 2019 will be developed over the coming months.

The LGA’s Annual Executive and Personal Assistants' Forum has a fresh new name and a new date for 2018. “REFRESH 18".
The roles of council Executive Assistant and Personal Assistant have evolved from traditional ‘duties’ and ‘task’ orientated positions into engaging business partnerships. This means there is a greater challenge and need for council Executive and Personal Assistant’s to grow their existing skills, develop new skills and expand their knowledge and understanding of the sector.
‘Refresh 2018’ is designed to celebrate the evolution of your role as a council Executive Assistant or Personal Assistant. The program includes informative ‘need-to-know’ information and important updates that will assist you, especially during this council election year. The program also includes sessions that align with those presented at the 2017 CEO, Mayors’ and Chairpersons’ and Elected Member Forums, focusing on the importance of advocacy, and offers invaluable networking opportunities.
Mindful awareness is an extremely important personal and professional skill and in recent years there’s been a huge increase in the use of mindfulness training in the workplace. This has been driven by the increasing scientific research into mindfulness meditation that has confirmed its positive effects. ‘Refresh 2018’ will include a practical afternoon mindfulness session modelled on the international leadership program designed and developed at Google, “Search Inside Yourself”. This session will offer you the opportunity to develop, through mindfulness-based practices, increased self-awareness, empathy, communication and resilience skills that will assist you to continue to grow as a collaborative leader in your council.
